About Us

The mission of the Tidewater Dental Association is to represent and serve the members of our society and the public by fostering quality oral health care through continuing education, open communication, and legislation.

For more than 100 years, the Association has promoted the highest levels of oral health for the community of Tidewater by providing support and educational opportunities for dental professionals in our area.Our membership includes more than 400 general practitioners and dental specialists from Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, and the Eastern Shore Counties of Accomac, Nansemond, and Northampton. Our members adhere to the American Dental Association Code of Ethics.

The TDA is also known as Component I of the Virginia Dental Association. Our members are part of a tripartite system that provides them with benefits to the ADA, VDA and TDA. The purpose of our society is to promote harmonious understanding, cooperation and good fellowship among its members; to improve the level of dental knowledge and techniques; to strive to elevate the standard of dentistry in our contacts with fellow practitioners and clientele; to aid, in an ethical manner, the dissemination of dental knowledge to the public through education of oral health and advanced scientific dental services; and to foster all agencies which promote the advancement of dentistry.
